Evolution is a third-person action game with racing and RPG elements incorporated. The game features both singleplayer and multiplayer modes. The basic gameplay focuses on acrobatics and combat. Player's movements are heavily parkour-influenced, while combat was inspired by capoeira.[4] The game also features light cycle races. Each cycle leaves a light trail that can hurt or "de-res" any enemy.[4] Evolution features persistent character progression system, that lets players earn new levels and unlock new upgrades, both in multiplayer and singleplayer

DeathSpank's world is cylinder-shaped and is rendered without load screens as the player explores its unique goings-on. The game is a third-person shooter with elements of hand-to-hand combat. Some elements from Quantum of Solace were removed such as the cover to cover system. There are some driving sequences. Blood Stone features a unique focus aim system which allows players to lock onto targets after melee takedowns, not too dissimilar to the "Mark and Execute" feature from Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction.[4] There is also a multiplayer mode consisting of up to 16 players that will pit spies versus mercenaries.[5] Alongside team deathmatch and other standard game modes there are massive objective-based battles where players have to work as a team to attack or defend various spy-themed goals. It has also been announced that players will pilot a number of vehicle types throughout the course of the game.

Playing as Shank, players must travel on a 2D plane through each level defeating enemies in their path. Three buttons are respectively used for attacking with knives, a chainsaw and one of various guns, which can each be combined into various combos. Players are also able to leap onto or grapple enemies, as well as throw grenades.
